FIRST TIME THE ANNUAL HUMMINGBIRD FESTIVAL
Pioneer Florida Pioneer Museum has been busy planting this spring and with the rains everything is growing great! Especially we have been planting gardens to attract hummingbirds and butterflies. We see many, many butterflies and even the elusive little birds every day. Come out to the Museum on Saturday, October 3, any time between 9 and 4 and enjoy a day with us. There will be music outside on the stage with performances by vgo and Starbird. Presentations inside will include 9:30 am All About Hummingbirds; 10:30 am Bats; 11:30 am Frog Listening; 1 pm Creating a Hummingbird Haven; and at 2 pm Ethnobotany Talk. There will be talks in the butterfly garden and a chance to build a bluebird box with the Audobon Society.
Also included in the festivities are arts & crafters, traditional craft demonstrations, Florida native plant sale, and children’s activities. Additionally, many of the museum’s historic buildings will be open and on display.
Festival admission is $6 for adults, $5 for seniors and $2 for students. As always, children under 5 are FREE. The museum also offers FREE parking and handicap accessibility.
